Brentwood

It’s an extremely family-oriented neighborhood given the proximity to so many schools.

Welcome to Brentwood

An upscale, family-friendly neighborhood on the Westside.

Known for its bustling town center and tranquil properties, Brentwood truly is a haven in the amidst Los Angeles’ Westside. Brentwood is located in one of the country’s most sought-after ZIP Codes, so it shouldn’t be too shocking that many celebrities and power players live in the area.

The area encompassing Westwood and Brentwood first began to be developed in 1887 when the founders of Santa Monica donated land to the federal government for the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers.

Brentwood has a wide array of property types, ranging from those closer to town with a high walkability score to those up in the canyons with sprawling grounds and gorgeous views. Proximity to top-rated education is what draws families to the area, though the short drive to Santa Monica and Malibu beaches is also enormously appealing. This well-manicured neighborhood has the best of all worlds in Los Angeles and is a top-performing real estate investment.

What to Love

  • Family-friendly and very walkable
  • Close to top-rated schools
  • Relaxed and idyllic living in the heart of a major city

Local Lifestyle

Residents in Brentwood maintain an active lifestyle and enjoy running, biking, hiking and attending exercise classes in the town center. As is the case in much of Los Angeles, people like to stay healthy and eat a balanced diet in Brentwood, so the town is full of juice bars, vegan eateries, and workout studios.

It’s an extremely family-oriented neighborhood given the proximity to so many schools, and there are lots of young couples and families in the area. Homeowners here are mostly successful, driven, and well-off and enjoy spending their weekends at the beach in Malibu, trying new restaurants in Santa Monica, or golfing at Los Angeles Country Club or Brentwood Country Club.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Brentwood is lucky to be one of the neighborhoods in Los Angeles with a town center, also known as Brentwood Village, where there’s a plethora of shops, restaurants, fitness studios, salons, and eateries. Brentwood Village is populated by SoulCycle, Sugarfish, JuiceCrafters, Burger Lounge, Whole Foods, Coral Tree Cafe, CVS, and Alfred Coffee, just to name a few.

Jon & Vinny’s is an extremely popular pizza and pasta joint in the center of Brentwood and is a great place for a date night or dinner with friends. Pizzana is also very popular and is known for its amazing cacio e pepe pie. Given how health-conscious the majority of residents here are, Kreation Juicery is a major hub in Brentwood for fresh-pressed juices, healthy bites, and meal-replacement smoothies. For a special occasion, Baltaire is an upscale steakhouse right in the village with a sleek interior and phenomenal food. A.O.C in Brentwood is a posh hotspot with a glass atrium and extensive wine list and is sure to be a big hit for a night out.

For unique boutiques and farm-to-table restaurants, the Brentwood Country Mart is the place to spend a weekend day. Try Farm Shop for artisanal bakery items and seasonal fare, all fresh from California farms.

Things To Do

There is no shortage of things to do outside Brentwood given its proximity to Santa Monica and Los Angeles proper, but there are plenty of activities right in town as well. On Sundays, Gretna Green Way transforms into the Brentwood Farmers Market, which is a favorite of many Angelenos.

Many Brentwood residents love heading to the beach in Malibu or Santa Monica to catch some waves or some sun on the weekends, but some opt to hit the fairways at Los Angeles Country Club or Brentwood Country Club. Both are membership-only and very private, but because so many residents in the area belong to one club or another, don’t be surprised to be invited for 18 holes when you move to town.

Nearby is the famous Getty Museum, which is home to art from ancient to contemporary time periods and also offers classes, educational programs, and tours. Made famous by its stunning architecture designed by Richard Meier, The Getty offers sweeping views of Los Angeles. Nearby in Pacific Palisades is sister museum The Getty Villa, which is modeled on an Italian villa and equally gorgeous in its own right.

Besides these local fixtures, there are seasonal festivals and outdoor movie screenings at the Will Rogers Polo Fields and frequent yoga pop-ups in the park.

Brentwood is known for its close proximity to some of the top-rated schools in Los Angeles. That being said, the majority of schools here are private, and many families do opt to send their children to private schools if they have the means to.
